Not just places to live,
but places to love.

We're making some changes

In January of 2026, Bromford Flagship joined forces with LiveWest to become BFL. By doing this, we've unlocked additional capacity to invest in existing homes, strengthen places and deliver more than 50,000 homes over the next 15 years.

To realise that ambition, we need to stay focused on our core purpose as a place-based affordable housing provider. As part of that focus, we have taken the decision to advertise our Private Rented portfolio for sale.

Focusing on our core business

Before our recent mergers, Flagship owned around 33,000 homes across East Anglia. Around 300 of these were privately rented, advertised via Rightmove and rented out at market value. This is different to our social housing homes, which are let via local authorities to people on a waiting list. Now that we're part of BFL, the number of social housing homes we own has grown to 127,000 across England.
The need for safe, affordable housing has never been greater. And that's where BFL comes in - we are in a uniquely strong position to have a really positive impact in the housing sector. In fact, we’re the UK’s largest provider of new affordable homes, delivering over 3,000 new homes each year. It's because of this that we've made the decision to focus solely on social housing, addressing the housing crisis head-on.

What this means for our tenants

We understand this might cause confusion and uncertainty. We've pulled together some Q&As based on conversations we're already having with impacted tenants.

The homes will be sold with existing tenants still occupying them, so there’s nothing you need to do. We’ll refresh this page anytime there’s an update and email you directly when we reach any key milestones.

This isn’t something we can do. All social homes are let by local authorities, with a long list of families waiting for a home to become available to them, so it’s not possible for us to change the tenure while keeping existing tenants.

We’ve chosen to advertise the homes as one large portfolio to attract the right sort of buyer. There are more than 300 homes, meaning any buyer will have to be an established landlord with the resources available to provide a good and fair service to all tenants, and to service the buildings themselves if they need repairs or investment.
We will go through a detailed due diligence process to make sure the right buyer is found.

Although all the leases are broadly the same, there are a few differences depending on when the lease began. We’ll make sure any prospective buyer is prepared to honour the existing terms.

We’re advertising all our privately rented homes as one portfolio, with a view to selling them all to one buyer. If you have any further questions on this or want to discuss your specific property, please contact the Private Rented Team directly.

No, you can stay in your home for the foreseeable future, provided all the terms of your lease continue to be met. When a suitable buyer for the portfolio is found, your rights as a tenant will be protected and you won’t be asked to leave your home unless there’s a fair and legal reason.

We'll review the business case to sell the portfolio, and consider all our options before deciding on our next steps.

As your tenancy will transfer to the new owner with the sale, so will your deposit.
